rich history, bright future

Founded in 1949 as the first Christian high school in Arizona, Phoenix Christian Preparatory School now serves PreK through 12th grade in the heart of the city, boasting an alumni base nearly 5,000 strong. And we’re just getting started.

Our Dedicated Staff

We often see Phoenix Christian alumni returning to their alma mater, some of which have been on staff for decades. Each staff and leader has unique stories of their experiences, and a commitment rooted in passion for the school and their students.

Jeff Blake

Superintendent

Mr. Blake began his teaching career at PC in 1997 and dove in wholeheartedly, serving as teacher, coach, StuCo advisor, and Department Head. He then transitioned into full-time Student Ministry at a local church from 2005 to 2008, until God reminded him of the significance of reaching students in the daily school environment. Since returning to PC, he has never looked back. He's served as teacher, department head, school chaplain, our middle school and high school principal, and now superintendent. His love for the school, staff, and students is evident in every decision.

Jaya Birdwell

International Program Director

Mrs. Birdwell joined PC in 2018 and supports our diverse group of international and exchange students. She has a passion to help others “taste and see that the Lord is good!” (Psalm 34:8) Along with her work at PC, Mrs. Birdwell serves at Phoenix Bible Church, where her husband is lead pastor.

Kelby Milgrim

High School STEM Director

Mr. Milgrim (PC Class of 1988) started the MESA program at PC and led both the middle school and high school teams to a State Championship in 2018. Drawing on over two decades of teaching experience, he engages the minds of students through hand-on activities such as robotics competitions, hydroponics experimentation, and basic engineering and design. He is passionate about sharing the Gospel and impacting students to be witnesses of Christ in their communities and throughout the world.

Jan Wolfe

Middle School and High School Art Teacher

A PC faculty member since 1979, Mrs. Wolfe inspires her students to practice art in many forms. Her students can be found designing silk screen printed t-shirts, building life-size human sculptures, experimenting with oil paints, and firing pottery pieces. Her husband teaches high school science at PC, where they met and coached track & field together for many years.

Ryan Stephens

High School Bible Teacher

A PC faculty member since 2003, Mr. Stephens draws on his education (M.Div from Phoenix Seminary, M.Ed from Grand Canyon University) and passion for God’s Word to open students’ minds and hearts to the truth. He is currently completing PhD studies in Old Testament, growing in knowledge alongside his students.

Gustavo Chaydez

High School Humanities Teacher

Mr. Chaydez has a deep love for scholarship, growing in wisdom, and guiding others to their purpose. After graduating from Cesar Chavez, a Title I high school in Phoenix, he attended Arizona State University on a full-ride academic scholarship. While completing his degree, he also became a published author and an elected community leader for his legislative district as a precinct committeeman, representing approximately 3,000 constituents. He began teaching in 2013 and joined the faculty at PC in 2016.

Jay Hendricks

High School English Teacher

Mr. Hendricks has over three decades of experience as a teacher and has dedicated over 20 years of his life to teaching students at PC. He continues to teach because he knows this is where God wants him to be. His wife teaches at PC Elementary, and his three sons graduated from PC as well.
