Relevant Work Experience: I have experience as a substitute teacher and daycare leader/teacher. I also regularly serve in the children’s ministry at church with all elementary ages. In college, I served as a head leader over a local outreach that partnered with a non-profit that serves inner-city youth.
Why Phoenix Christian?
While at Grand Canyon University, I had not previously visited Phoenix Christian, but being placed here for my student teaching truly was a blessing. Initially, I envisioned teaching in public schools, believing it would serve as a mission field. However, after joining Phoenix Christian this January, I quickly realized this is the environment I want to teach in due to its missional focus. I value the diverse backgrounds of our students and the opportunity to guide them while sharing the message of Jesus. I’ve felt incredibly supported by both the staff and families, and Phoenix Christian’s mission to serve the local community deeply resonates with me. I’m excited to be part of such a purpose-driven environment!
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
My favorite Bible verse is John 16:33. In this verse, Jesus tells his disciples, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. This verse has comforted me in the trials of my life, and I always go back to it when I need a reminder from the Lord. It is a guarantee that we will face tribulations in this broken world, but we do not have to be afraid because our God is bigger than all of it! The Lord loves us and deeply cares for us.
What is something you do for fun when not teaching? I am from Colorado and I love anything outdoors. When I’m not teaching (and when it’s not too hot here in Arizona!), you will find me camping, hiking, or reading outside.
