Ray Karvis and DST re enters Phoenix Christian’s athletic program!

Coach Ray Karvis returns to Phoenix Christian after fourteen years!  He brings with him a renewed passion for PC athletics as well as years of experience to train athletes to help them be better for their sports teams. He also returns by getting PC to partner with the company he works for; Dynamic Sports Training (DST).  

Coach Ray Karvis joined the DST-AZ Team as a sports performance coach in September of 2019.  He brings over twenty years of experience as an S&C coach to the team.  DST has five locations nationwide and its original location is now in its fifteenth year in Houston Texas.  DST will be opening its sixth location partnering with Phoenix Christian.  The other Arizona DST location is based in Glendale on the campus of ACU.

Coach Karvis, prior to becoming a member of the DST family taught science and Strength class at various high schools as well as coached football and track.  He had a successful career as a coach with notable stops at Shadow Ridge,  and Tonopah Valley as the head coach and strength coach.  Karvis also was at Phoenix Christian and coached when  the football team made three trips to the state championship and won it twice.  Coach K, while an assistant coach at PC, also served as the team and schools S&C coach.

Karvis earned his degree in biological sciences from Quincy University where he also was a standout linebacker on the football team.  The 1993 team went undefeated, won the conference title and was recently inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame. He served as Southern Illinois University’s football and basketball strength coach while earning his master’s degree and obtaining his CSCS certification.  

Coach Karvis was the assistant director of sports performance at DST-Az and primarily trained teams and athletes from Arizona Christian University.  Coach K co-authored a chapter on speed and agility as a co-author to the NSCA high school strength and conditioning manual  which was released late in 2021. Coach spoke at the regional NSCA conference in December of 2022 on the topic of physical education teachers in the weight rooms at the high school setting. He is married to his wife Mandi and resides in Phoenix Arizona.
