What is Spring Term?
Spring Term is a one-week high school minisemester, March 16-20 during which a variety of classes and travel opportunities will be offered. A student may choose one of two options for the Spring Term week: (1) select an all-day class or a trip, (2) Juniors and Seniors may choose to do a work internship.
How Are Spring Term Classes Graded?
Students will receive a letter grade for each Spring Term class. All-day classes, trips, and internships will receive ˝ credit for the week. This credit will be placed on the student’s transcript and will count in the academic GPA.
Is Spring Term Required For All High School Students?
Yes. Spring Term days are included in the required school days for second semester, and attendance is mandatory. If a student does not attend, a Spring Term grade of “F” will be placed on the student’s transcript. In a very few cases of documented emergency or exceptional circumstances, an alternate Spring Term independent study/research project will be assigned.
If A Student Participates In Spring Sports, Can He/She Sign Up For A Spring Term Trip?
Because we recognize that Spring Term experiences potentially cause a conflict with a sport or other school activity/involvement, we have established the following Spring Term Athletic Policy: Students involved in JV level activities may miss part of the season due to a Spring Term experience without losing their place on a roster. It needs to be understood, though, that students missing part of their season will need to earn their way back into their prior position. Because of the level of commitment expected at the varsity level, students will need to choose Spring Term experiences that do not conflict with sports or not participate in varsity sports.
However, since sports vary in practice and competition schedules, a student would need to check with his/her coach to see if the coach will release the student to participate in the trip opportunity.

What Will Junior High Students Do While The High School Students Are In Spring Term Classes?
The junior high will be in regular second semester classes, although some special activities are planned during that week.
What Can Parents Do To Help With This Exciting New Program?
We are so glad you asked! We need parent volunteers to help chaperone trips (including field trips) at their own expense (sorry!). If you have a CDL license, we could use your help in transporting students to different field trip sites. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Phil Adams at 602-265-4707 ext 245.
