Are there any scholarships available?
Yes and no.  A scholarship is a generic term used for money a school awards and does not expect it to be repaid.  We do award a modest amount of need-based money for students who apply for Financial Aid.  We do not have scholarships for academic or merit related achievement.  If you have further questions about Financial Aid, please contact Renee Trapp at 602.265.4707 ext 244 or Nancy Smith at 602.265.4707 ext 221.

As a Christian school, we are bound by God to declare the whole counsel of His desires for us.  As such we feel that God has commanded his believers to worship him as a Church body, as well as individually.   The Bible says that we are to be a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). Our lives are offerings to God. Therefore we cannot compartmentalize our spiritual life.  However, we also understand that the Bible teaches us that we are to be community people. God never made us to be a people alone. A major message of Jesus was the announcement of the Kingdom of God. He came to establish his Kingdom made up of those who profess to know Christ as Lord.

When Jesus establishes the New Covenant at the Lord’s Supper He commands His followers to remember Him every time they come together. This tells us that Jesus expects His church to regularly come together as a group. The entire book of Acts is devoted to the idea of spreading the Gospel and growing the Church; not just individual Christians.

Paul writes most of his letters not to individuals but to the Church. God does this for a reason. It is through the church that the gospel is declared. Through the church we are to build each other up with teaching, worshipping, accountability, etc. In I Corinthians 12, Paul states very clearly that as Christians we are all given special roles and gifts for the building up of the body of Christ.  When we fail to fulfill our role in the body, the body cannot function. I Peter 2:4-8 says that we are living stones that come together to make up the true temple of God, with Christ as our foundation and cornerstone. We would submit that the entire New Testament is non-sensible outside of a church principle.

Finally, Hebrews 10: 24-25 warns us “not to give up the habit of meeting together.” Why? It is through meeting together as a Church that we can “spur one another on in love towards love and good deeds.”  As a school we believe that it is through the church that true spiritual growth occurs. It is our job as a Christian school to help Christian young men and women to not only grow personally, but also to encourage them to find their role and gifts as members of the body of Christ.

Let’s not forget that schooling, as we know it, did not exist until well into the 19th Century. The Christian school has even a shorter history. God established the church, along with the family, to be His instruments of teaching, service, encouragement, growth, community, and discipline from the very beginning of the Christian era. We teach this truth to our students as non-negotiable. Our function as a Christian school only partially fulfills the needs that Christian young people have. Phoenix Christian merely complements the roles of the family and church, it cannot take their place.
